BloggingThis website explores many aspects of using the internet with a particular focus on blogging with WordPress – hence the name WPBlog.co.uk.
It’s particularly relevant to anyone who is interested in building their own website with a view to making money online.

Many people ask about the best blogging platform to use, and if you are planning to earn extra cash with your website, then buying a domain name, getting some web hosting, and installing a WordPress blog on a web server, with which you can create your own presence on the web, is the best way to go.

Of course there are free blogging platforms like WordPress.com and Google’s Blogger which are fine for personal blogs, but free WordPress doesn’t allow bloggers to include advertising in their posts, and Google regularly deletes blogs which are being used to create links for advertising purposes and for other unclear reasons.

So, though the free blogging sites are useful for getting started with blogging and becoming familiar with what you can do with a blog, they aren’t a long term solution if you want to be serious about making money by creating your own website.

So, why a WordPress blog? Why not just create a static website?

WordPress BloggingBecause of the many free themes available for WordPress (and this site is using one of them) website design skills are not required. Blogs are easy to update which is important if you want your website to be seen. Websites that are left to stagnate can easily be submerged in the search engine results pages (which is mainly where your website will be found), bearing in mind that there are millions of websites on the internet with which you have to compete.

Also, there are many very useful free and paid-for plugins available for WordPress which basically means you can find small software programs which are easily plugged in to your main WordPress website giving you many additional features to work with and which are not possible to include with a static website.

One of the greatest benefits of plugins is that they can help automate much of the work of running a blog and leave the blogger free to concentrate on writing.
